Descriptions of the [Task Structure] Window

The Tasks are displayed as boxes in the [Task Structure] window. The relationship between Tasks can be understood from the positioning of the boxes and the lines drawn between the boxes. Task information or the relationship between Tasks can be changed by operations performed on the boxes or the lines between the boxes.

When you are using Internet Explorer as web browser, the [Task Structure] window appears only when ActiveX Control is enabled with Resource Management Application or User Profile. When an ActiveX control is not installed but set enabled, a message appears prompting to install an ActiveX control. Clicking the [Yes] button installs an ActiveX control.
Once the ActiveX control has been installed, the message will not be displayed again.

The following explains each item in the [Task Structure] window.

Item Description
[Print] button Clicking the button displays the print dialog box where you can print the task structure.
When you are using any web browser other than Internet Explorer, however, there will be some problems, such as the layout of the printed task structure gets distorted, or other tabs do not work during preview of the print layout.
[Fold] button Clicking the button folds the entire tree view of the [Task Structure] area.
[Unfold All] button Clicking the button unfolds the entire tree view of the [Task Structure] area.
[Zoom In/Zoom Out] slide bar The displayed entire Tree is enlarged or reduced by moving the slide bar from right to left or rotating the mouse wheel on the slide bar.
Enlargement/reduction is available in the range of 10 to 200 % by 10%. A scale of enlargement is displayed on the side of the slide bar.
[Task Structure] area The Tasks are displayed as boxes. The relationship between the Tasks can be understood from the arrangement of the boxes and the lines drawn between them. Right-clicking on the box or line displays the menu of enabled operations. Described below are the items of information displayed and the operations enabled in the [Task Structure] area.
[Close] button Clicking this button closes the [Task Structure] window.

Information displayed in the [Task Structure] area

The following explains each item in the [Task Structure] area.

The Tasks are displayed by Task name in an ascending order of the Task name.

Item Description
[Parent-Task] tab When the reference Task has multiple parent-Tasks, tabs appear for each parent-Task. Clicking this tab displays the [Task Structure] window showing the parent-Task as the uppermost level Task.
  • The hierarchy of the Tasks is displayed up to two levels above or below the Task for which the [Task Structure] window appears.
  • Too long Task names will be truncated when displayed, but the full name will be displayed by placing the pointer over the Task name.
Box arrangement The Tasks on the left are parent-Tasks. The Tasks arranged vertically parallel have a parallel relationship.
Lines between boxes The Tasks connected by a line have a hierarchical relationship.
Task of interest When the [Task Structure] window appears, the selected Task is outlined by double line.
Task status The Task status is color-coded as follows.
  • Red
    Indicates an initiated Task.
  • Green
    Indicates an operating Task.
  • Light green
    Indicates a re-operating Task.
  • Yellow
    Indicates a suspended Task.
  • Purple
    Indicates a completed Task.
The correspondence between color and Task status is provided in the window.

Operations enabled in the [Task Structure] window

The following operations can be performed in the [Task Structure] window.

View Task Place

Clicking the Task displays the [Task Place] page of the Task.

Change parent-Tasks to be displayed

Clicking the [Parent-Task] tab displays the [Task Structure] window showing the parent-Task as the uppermost level Task.

Connect to Parent-Task

Right-clicking the box of the Task displays a menu. With the line displayed, select [Connect to Parent-Task] from the menu and click on the connection destination Task. A Task connection is established with the connection destination Task Placed higher than the reference Task.
However, this operation can be performed only when the user has permission to connect from child-Tasks to parent-Tasks and permission to connect from parent-Tasks to child-Tasks.

Connect to Child-Task

Right-clicking the box of the Task displays a menu. With the line displayed, select [Connect to Child-Task] from the menu and click on the connection destination Task. A Task connection is established with the connection destination Task Placed lower than the reference Task.
However, this operation can be performed only when the user has permission to connect from child-Tasks to parent-Tasks and permission to connect from parent-Tasks to child-Tasks.

Change the Task of interest

Right-clicking the box of the Task displays a menu. Select [Redraw with this Task centered] from menu. The selected Task becomes the Task of interest and the Task structure is displayed in the [Task Structure] area.

Create Task

Right-clicking the box of the Task displays a menu. Selecting [Create Task] from the menu displays the [Create Task] window.

Disconnect

Placing the cursor on a line connecting two Tasks makes the connecting line heavy. Right-clicking the mouse displays a menu. Selecting [Disconnect] from the menu cancels the connection between the Tasks.
However, this operation can be performed only when the user has permission to connect from child-Tasks to parent-Tasks and permission to connect from parent-Tasks to child-Tasks.

Add Task to be displayed

If the connection destination Task is not displayed in the [Task Structure] window, use one of the following procedures for adding a Task to the [Task Structure] area.

Folding/Unfolding the tree

With each click of [+] or [-] mark on the connecting line, the Tasks to the right of the mark is shown or hidden alternatively.
